A Note from Susie

Greetings, Dear Friends!

Spring is here, flowers are getting ready to bloom, and God’s promises are true for YOU!

I am more convinced than ever of the fact that God has made the abundant life available to any one tenacious enough to lay hold of it. Be one of those people.  If you are walking with a limp or feel imprisoned by your fear, insecurity, or anger – go after your freedom in Christ. It was purchased for you!

You are too important to settle for anything less than God’s absolute best for you.

May this upcoming year be one of Divine Intimacy and Tenacious Faith!

He is Risen!

Be blessed, my friend.

Great Tips for a Powerful Life:
Encouragement to Care for Your Body, Mind, and Soul

Body…

  • Now that we have more daylight and the temperatures are a little friendlier, make yourself get out and walk after dinner. Do this several nights a week. Take a brisk walk, take a few deep breaths, and thank God for the health that allows you to get out and get some fresh air!

  • Since it is springtime, step up your stretching and strength work. If you end up sitting in front of the T.V., make yourself either stretch or do a strength exercise (e.g. sit ups, push ups, or squats) while you watch your favorite show. Use a beach towel to stretch your hamstrings. Lie on the floor, hold the ends of the towel and put your foot in the arch of the towel. Gently pull the ends of the towel so your leg comes towards you. Hold at the point of tension for about twenty seconds. This will do wonders for you!

Mind…

  • Take inventory of your thoughts this week. Do your thoughts gravitate toward defeat, doubt and discouragement? Or maybe they don’t go that low. Maybe your thoughts are like an old room in need of some fresh paint. Are you thinking excellent thoughts? Ones that inspire new hope and fresh purpose? You are in charge of your thoughts! Need some direction? Focus on the Majesty of God! Rely on His goodness! Think about His offer of Eternal life. Meditate on His promise of peace. Some times our mindsets need a spring-cleaning!

  • Take time to rest your mind. Put on some instrumental music, or simply enjoy the quiet. Learn how to quiet yourself like a still small child (Psalm 131:2). Just be quiet with Jesus. It will renew your mind!

Soul…

  • Nourish your soul by really listening to the words on a worship album. Nourish your soul by singing along. Nourish your soul by regularly looking out the window and taking in the beautiful sky. Acknowledge God’s presence all day long and you will be blessed and nourished.

  • Plan an outreach with a few friends. Work at a local food shelf, volunteer at a nursing home, or bless a family who has a loved one in Iraq. Do something outside of your personal comfort zone. Your own soul is nourished when you are kind (Proverbs 11:17).

Great Books for a Deeper Life:

Oxygen:  Deep Breathing for the Soul
by Keri Wyatt Kent
$12.99
I love this book! Using timeless techniques in a contemporary way, Keri Wyatt Kent leads the reader to deeper places of rest, meditation, and prayer. She takes portions of Jesus’ journey on earth and brings them to life today. She asks you to read a certain passage, and then she asks you to go back to it again, but this time at a slower pace and with a listening ear. Over and over again you’ll ask yourself, what is God saying to me here? Keri leads you through journaling exercises that will help you reflect on and apply what you are gleaning from Scripture. I love the way Keri writes and I love her heart for intimacy. Buy this book!

Drawing CloseSee God’s Face and Be Changed Forever
by Graham Cooke
$8.99
I love just about anything from Graham Cooke. This book is no exception. This sweet book is a part of the “Being with God” series. Here is a quote from Drawing Close,  "At the end of the day, it is the loveliness of God that is going to accomplish the promises in your life.  Through His goodness, His kindness, His peace, and His joy, He will strengthen you. Learn how to sit and rest and wait and be. Fill your mind with Jesus and you will never be the same!”

Both of these books call you to cease striving and KNOW that He is God (and that He is crazy in love with you). Nothing will fill your life or change your perspective like the rest, the peace, and the love of Almighty God!

You can purchase either book, which includes shipping by using our special order form.

Great Quotes to Nourish Your Soul

Do little things as if they were great because of the majesty of the lord Jesus Christ who dwells in you; and do great things as if they were little and easy because of his omnipotence.

                                                                        -- Blaise Pascal

Never be afraid of giving God your best, and He will give you his better.

A Quick Prayer to Send You on Your Way...

Precious Savior, You are all that I need. Lift my eyes upward and renew my hope once again! Give me a vision for my next place of promise and give me faith enough to lay hold of it. Grant me a generous heart that I might give sacrificially to those in need. Grant me a considerate heart that I might think of others before I think of myself. Renew Your works in my day. Make Your glory known. Give me an appetite for the impossible! I refuse a redundant, uneventful walk of faith. I ask for a revival of faith in my life, in my city, and in my world. In Your Precious Name, I pray. Amen.
